It is with an excited but heavy heart that I share:

First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you for coming in and pulling up a seat at my kitchen table. Thank you.

As many of you know, my husband is Al Bowers of Al’s Burger Shack.  When we decided to open Mel’s, it was because we needed more prep space for Al’s Burger Shack (Franklin Street location) and our growing catering business.  As the space came together, we thought we could also open and serve weekday lunches that would allow me to share my mother’s recipes. I hope I did her justice.

Since opening Mel’s, we have had the good fortune of expanding Al’s Burger Shack to a second location in Southern Village.  We are blown away every day and feel so fortunate to be a part of a community that supports local businesses.

However, with the growth of our catering business and this second Burger Shack location, Al and I have had to reassess our family life and business model.  We have made the very difficult decision to wind down the lunch service at Mel’s.

BUT, this does not mean you can’t enjoy the Chicken Salad, Asian Noodles, Broccoli Salad, Devil’d Eggs, Man Candy, Tomato Pie, Chicken and Pastry or any of the other regular lunch items and specials.  We’d be happy to bring this food (and more) to your office, special event or party through our catering arm.  We will offer box lunches, bulk items for sale and we will also be available for private parties and can host your event in Mel’s space.  And, there will be more Caffe Marrone dinners as well—so stay tuned.

While we are sad we won’t see you daily at Mel’s, we are excited about this next chapter and have many more exciting things in store.

I hope you have enjoyed eating with me as much as I have enjoyed cooking for you.

So grateful and so humbled,

Melody
